$491,700 OTF Grant Gives Epilepsy South Central Ontario for Clinic-to-Community Program

June 20, 2022

Mississauga Ontario – In 2020, at the beginning of the pandemic, Epilepsy South Central Ontario (ESCO) received $491,700, a three year GROW Grant from the Ontario Trillium Foundation to deliver the proven program Clinic to Community which will provide newly diagnosed families with the essential information and community support

“This investment by the Ontario Trillium Foundation has strengthened ESCO’s ability to provide families within the epilepsy community the support they need. By implementing additional educational resources and minimizing unnecessary emergency room visits, ESCO can continue to have a positive impact on people living with epilepsy all while reducing the burden of care for both our healthcare institutions and frontline workers,” said Rudy Cuzzetto, MPP for Mississauga Lakeshore.

“The impact of this Ontario Trillium Foundation grant has helped us to keep up with the financial objectives of ESCO as we are able to support families” said Cynthia Milburn, CEO of Epilepsy South Central Ontario. “In addition, this grant will allow us to build capacity through all the various ways of communicating with the epilepsy community and being available to them as demand has increased”

The Ontario Trillium Foundation (OTF) is an agency of the Government of Ontario, and one of Canada’s leading granting foundations. Last year, nearly $112M was invested into 1,384 community projects and partnerships to build healthy and vibrant communities and strengthen the impact of Ontario’s non-profit sector. In 2020/21, OTF supported Ontario’s economic recovery by helping non-profit organizations rebuild and recover from the impacts of COVID-19. Visit otf.ca to learn more.
