Epilepsy South Central Ontario’s 18th Annual Chicken Wing Competition was a HUGE Success!

April 28, 2017

On Wednesday, April 26th, we celebrated chicken wings in a big way!  It was a fun and delicious night at the Concordia Club, where guests enjoyed a smorgasbord of wings generously provided by WingsUp!

The Shananigans played an upbeat set that inspired some pretty amazing dancing (with a dinosaur), so many lucky people won amazing prizes and we all stuffed ourselves with delicious wings!!

With 8 flavours competing, the crowd pleaser and winner of People’s Choice was DRY CAJUN! A delicious dry rub with a great spice and overall amazing flavour.

Our 8 judges, including Police Chief Bryan Larkin, former Kitchener Rangers Captain Ben Fanelli, Darryl, Gayle and Brad from DAVEROCKS and our Sobeys champions Robin, Angie and Jon, carefully tasted each flavour and with their astute wing expertise, they awarded Honey Hot as their champion!

It was a night of many celebrations, including the longstanding support by our local Sobeys. For 7 years Sobeys has supported us and the work we do by hosting numerous fundraisers at all 7 locations in KW. To date, Sobeys has raised over $40, 000 for epilepsy support and education programming in KW and Guelph and we are so appreciative of that.  We had tables of smiling Sobeys managers and staff out this year, who are all so excited to host their events across KW on April 29th and 30th.

We are so proud to see this event grow over these 18 years, raising funds and awareness for epilepsy in KW and Guelph. WingsUp!, you guys truly are KW’s KING of the WING!

Looking to sink your teeth into these winning flavours? Check out WingsUp! and their 9 locations in Southern Ontario.

A very special THANK YOU to WingsUp!, Sobeys, Rombald, Lazaridis Students Society, DAVEROCKS, Waterloo Region Record, Snapd, Community Capture Magazine, The Concordia Club, The Shananigans, our many raffle donors and, of course, you – the wing-loving people!
